MR10 / S533 Chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Thonet

The MR10/ S533 armchair was designed in 1927 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and is one of the first cantilever chairs.
This iconic design by Mies van der Rohe is inspired by the revolutionary concept of the Dutch architect Mart Stam.

Van der Rohe wanted a cantilever chair that was not only comfortable but also radiated minimalism, simplicity and lightness.
He therefore opted for a beautiful round shape and a seat shell where you could choose between rattan and leather.
The round shape gives this revolutionary chair an open and honest character.
This makes the armchair incredibly versatile, meaning it fits in almost any room and with any interior style.
The MR10 was showcased at several notable events during 1927, which included the Exposition de la Mode in Paris and the Weissenhof Exhibition in Stuttgart. The M10 chairs were originally produced by Joseph Müller in Berlin and, after 1930, were produced by Thonet.

This rattan chair is in excellent vintage condition.
